Coming Soon – Space Week Astrophotography Competition 2024 Showcase
During Space Week 2024, Astrophotography Club Ireland and MTU Blackrock Castle Observatory held the Space Week 2024 Astrophotography Competition – sponsored by Ktec Telescopes. Photographers took part from all across Ireland and we were overwhelmed by the volume and quality of entries. The competition was split into three categories as follows:
Overall Winner and Best Landscape/Aurora – Patryk Sadowski
Fanad Head Lighthouse with Aurora
Best Solar System Object – Enda Kelly
The Rugged Southern Highlands on Earth’s Moon
Best Deep Sky Object – Matija Komericki
7 Sisters
The winning images will be displayed at MTU Blackrock Castle Observatory in the coming weeks in our public exhibit.
We would like to express our thanks to all the members of Astrophotography Club Ireland that took part in this competition and for their continued support of Space Week Ireland. We also wish to thank Ktec Telescopes for their generous prize for the overall winner. Ktec are constantly supporting aspiring astronomers in Ireland with advice and encouragement and we are immensely grateful for their support in this competition and beyond. A work of thanks should also go to our judges. Selecting a winner from the huge number of amazing entries was no easy task.
The wonderful thing about the night sky is that it is shared by all, and yet we each have a unique perspective on it. Thank you to everyone who shared theirs.
